In gathering, in cleaning and in the application processes, sand being mined right now in Western Wisconsin contaminates air, water and land. It is used to release natural gas from earth’s subsurface. Our landscapes are changing as large quarries are taking over the farmlands. Hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” is a primary threat to drinking water. We are compromising our water systems by our need for greed.
